My name is Debbie Johnson and I own and operate “Debbie’s School of Dance.” I built the foundation for the studio on the idea of watching children gain confidence, poise, self-esteem, strength and trust through the beauty of dance and thirty-two years later I still use this as the basis for the classes I teach. These teaching ethics led to my induction into the Who’s Who in Dance national publication and the honor of being named United Dance Merchant Association's Teacher Impact Award Winner. I am proud to have our studio presented with the ADCC Studio of Excellence Award, which exemplifies the values of working together and striving for excellence.
I have performed with the Atlanta Ballet Company in the production of the holiday ballet, the Nutcracker. I have choreographed and taught students routines for the Florida Citrus Bowl half-time show and the Nashville Music City Bowl half-time show. I have prepared students to participate in the Jr. Titans Cheerleader program. My students performed in several special guest appearances on CMT's , "Wildhorse Saloon" TV show. My studio has also had guest performances at Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Six Flags, New York City, Chicago, and Hawaii. I was also the dance line coach/choreographer for Vanderbilt University.
DSD's Competitive Team travels to neighboring states to compete in regional competitions. We have had much success in our endeavors and are fortunate enough to have earned several national championship titles including the “Contest of Champions” sponsored by Disney World and ESPN, performance awards, choreography awards, showmanship awards, and encore awards. I believe in giving back to the community by performing at several community events such as parades, charity fundraisers, retirement centers, etc. I look forward to working with you and your child in your dance endeavors. I’m sure you will find your child has a rewarding experience.
